Full-size sheets will fit length-wise but the extra fabric on either side will make for a consistently messy look and fixing your sheets all the time will become a hassle. When choosing a comforter for your bed, consider the following. Your bed is going to get some heavy use during the year. In dorm rooms without additional seating, your bed will act as the main seating area, much like a sofa. With this, you will want to avoid light colored fabrics. White, of course is to be avoided but so is a solid, dark color. Aim for medium-to-dark colors with a print to hide dirt and stains. You will also want the fabric to be easy to clean. Avoid materials that need to be dry cleaned as you will want to wash your comforter somewhat often. Silky fabrics are also not a good choice; you’ll find they will slide off the bed easily making hanging out on your bed difficult.

Even if you only sleep with one pillow at night, bring along a few extra bed pillows or throw pillows. You’ll use these to lean against the wall when on your bed hanging out or studying. Back rest pillows with arms are very useful in this case and can even be used on the floor as extra seating.
